It’s that time of year again, and we’re getting ready for the wedding season already! We honestly cannot contain our excitement for this year!

With that said, the Wedding Fair will shortly be upon us, and this year we are ecstatic to meet new couples, execute a large list of new idea’s, and get a chance to use our new Lightrein light setup in a wedding atmosphere so we can produce some super dramatic shots!

Don’t get us wrong, we love natural light, and has always been our shooting style, nothing can match it, and it has a beautiful and very natural feel, however, there is something about controlled light at night that really can make images pop!

This years Wedding Fair will be held at the Roundup Centre on Sunday January 24th, 2010. Some details for those of you planning to attend.

Well, it’s been a long hard road, but it looks like we’re finally all caught up and ready to hit off 2010 with a bang!

The last photo shoot for 2009 was actually on Christmas Eve!

Kim (mom) had contacted us well ahead of time, and was only in town for a short while, with very limited time. So we decided to help out, and make ourselves available on Christmas Eve for one last shoot of 2009, and we’re really glad we did.

The Forrest family was amazing! Everyone was into it, they had lots of idea’s, and they were so energetic and enthusiastic for the entire shoot.

We’ve known the Pacentrilli family for about 5 or 6 years now. It started out as an IT relationship, and slowly worked it’s way into friendship. I’ve learned a lot about Mary’s family, talking to her while waiting for hour long PC repair tasks to complete.

So when Mary asked us if we could do some family portraits for them while the entire family was in town we jumped on it, as a Christmas gift to the Pacentrilli family.

We believe every photographer has at least one special picture from every shoot. A picture they go back to multiple times during post production. A picture they add to their portfolio, and share through photo blogs and social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter.

This special picture could be anything. A waterfall, portrait you took on your iPhone, a flower or even a frying pan…. what?   It really doesn’t matter what it is. There is just something about that picture that makes it special to you.

There are obviously an infinite amount of reasons why a picture could be special but we can say for sure that one of the most common reasons is having a story or memory to the picture.

An example is young Bronwyn below, playing with her dad’s shiny blackberry.

This picture was taken moments after a new e-mail arrived causing the blackberry to vibrate and make a sound.

Bronwyn’s reaction was sudden shock, then a natural? instinct to hand the phone back to her dad. A very cute moment indeed.

Now this picture has a story behind it, that we will always remember.

As I stated two posts ago, Chris had contacted us about some business profile head shots for her websites http://www.canlnc.ca/ and http://www.canlncexperts.ca/ and other publications for her business.

I have to say, it was an absolute pleasure and joy to work with you Chris. I hope we captured the business look you were after and we have to say it was quite easy to achieve some very compelling images with how beautiful you are!

During the shoot, we also learned that Chris had won Canadian Living cookie challenge with her “body builder” cookie recipe! It contains cheddar cheese!! (cookies and cheese together.. wow!)

Meg was mainly looking for dramatic black and white photographs, and she had a few idea’s in mind, which really got our creativity rolling.

Meg, I hope we captured what you were looking for! and hopefully, we’ll one day see them on your album cover (don’t forget us when you make it big!)

It was an absolute joy to work with Meg, she’s a beautiful person, and it was quite easy to capture that in our photos. We have to thank you for the great conversation, and our apologies for going overboard! (I think we went over time by an hour!) I still wish we had more time, and the ability to shoot outside, unfortunately, it’s a bit too cold for that!
